In Common – October 8, 2021

October 8, 2021 / Michelle / Leave a comment

I've got a great list of books and podcasts I'm working on this month. I'm also peppering my reading list with the occasional middle grade or YA fiction - some I am prereading for my younger kids, and a couple just because they are fun to read. So far, most of my time has been … Continue reading In Common – October 8, 2021

March 2021 Reading List

March 18, 2021 / Michelle / Leave a comment

I've decided to lighten my reading load a bit, and not over schedule like I have in the past. I still have a healthy stack I'm working through, but I'm not putting pressure on myself. I am also incorporating other resources that don't require me to have my face in a book. I have a … Continue reading March 2021 Reading List

New Year, New Start

January 1, 2021 / Michelle / Leave a comment

I know 2020 has been rough for so many people. I think we are all hopeful and maybe even optimistic that 2021 has to be better. I've never been one for New Year's Resolutions - they seem gimmicky and lose steam within weeks for most people. But I think the start of a new year … Continue reading New Year, New Start

Review: nature’s best hope

October 19, 2020 / Michelle / Leave a comment

I've just finished reading Douglas W. Tallamy's Nature's Best Hope, and I closed the book feeling inspired and motivated to walk my property and make a plan for adding a large variety of natives to support our local ecosystem. My general feeling is that, if a book leaves you wanting to do something, do more, … Continue reading Review: nature’s best hope

I don’t do a lot of selfies with Pingu because he’s kind of an asshole and hates his mama. He’s five years old, a bantam (though sized more halfway between bantam and a full size boy). He takes good care of the girls and enjoys watching YouTube, which is why I put up with his abuse - and he has dished it out over our years together. If you’ve never had a rooster dive down from a roost and spur you in the head, can you really call yourself a chicken parent? #backyardchickens #backyardchickensofinstagram #roostersofinstagram #roosters #rockoutwithyourcockout #chickenmama

My February reading selection. A Daily Calendar of Saints is my personal reading but I also have 101 Orthodox Saints I’ve been reading to the kids. Both are wonderful. #personalscholar #bookstagram #readinglist2022 #orthodoxbooks
Book mail! #personalscholar #homeschool #latin #orthodoxsaints
Books have started to arrive - this can mean only one thing. The kids are officially homeschooling again. #personalscholar #homeschool
Book mail! I can’t bring myself to watch the movie first so this goes straight to the top of the Current Reads stack. #dune #readinglist2021
Current #audible read. This book comes highly recommended, and I can see why. It’s excellent! #personalscholar #readinglist2021 #christianity #orthodoxchristian
Finished! Can you tell I’m trying to clear my Current Reads stack? Another thought provoking book, adding to the conversations about and working the Christian church. Recommend reading! #personalscholar #readinglist2021 #christian #jesusandjohnwayne
